We had a good 3 hour team meeting today and I feel the need to share a quote by one of my colleagues which we all loved during the check in with each other we do at he beginning of our meetings asking ‘How are you doing?’ He said ‘The forest is big and scary but the trees are our friends. And sometimes we just need to hug a tree.’

Loaf will be joining Kings Norton Farmer Market THIS SATURDAY, 10th October!

Mike, one of our bakers, who used to work at Ten Four Bakehouse told us the other day about his fond memories working stalls at the Green in Kings Norton. And then we thought: Shall we ask them? And we did. And the lovely people running the Farmers Market and other stall holders kindly accepted our request if we could join their line up of local traders while we are still working on getting into our new premisses.

Today we had our weekly Loaf meeting at The British Oak and wrote together a lunch menu for this week, checked which sweets Rach baked for the shop (list below!) and talked about bits and bobs to enable us to move soon into our new premisses (still nothing confirmed in writing yet, but steps forward every week).

We also talked about our plans for the next months, about mince meat, markets and exchanged what we now find ourselves to miss - our filing cabinet for example, having everything in one place and deliveries from Suma Wholefoods and all our local suppliers.

Dorit writing here - and first things first: We are still waiting for updates from GSA regarding the sign off of the building and finalizing the commercial leases, so we will keep popping up at Deadbeat. Later this month you will be able to find us again at the Bournville Artisan Market. And if that’s not enough - come and say Hi when we return to the Stirchley Community Market on the 26th of September!

Hello everyone and happy bank holiday (just),

Dorit writing here - just giving a very brief heads-up that the Loaf pop-up shop at Deadbeat will stay open for now as usual as we keep waiting. Apologies for everyone who already tried to pre-order - the online shop is live now!

GSA is working on getting the building signed off and to get the leases with the worker co-ops ready. Negotiations between SCD and GSA are ongoing.

We did have a Loaf meeting today at the beautiful British Oak and at some point we realised it’s soon time to start making our mince pie fillings - can you belief that it’s already six months since we moved out and it’s September already tomorrow? Usually I would ask you now to donate your apples, but please hold your horses (or maybe hold your apples and keep some stored away for us?).

Being a part of this community means the world to us! We keep pushing GSA to give Stirchley Cooperative Development a fair deal and to finally set up fair leases with the worker co-ops. We are back at Deadbeat again with Anosh Speciality Coffee this week as the wait continues for GSA to finalise the completion of the building. We will be stocked up with fresh bread, rolls, sweet and savoury bakes, cakes and our homemade lunches. It’s looking to be another hot week ahead so just a reminder that Deadbeat has air-con and is the perfect cool-spot to enjoy an iced coffee and a cinnamon bun!

we are happy to announce that we will return to Cotteridge Park this Sunday!

We will be popping up once again on Sunday 26th July next to The Shed in Cotterdige Park and bring bread and buns! The Shed is a beautiful place which is mainly run by volunteers. For those who haven’t been to The Shed yet nor met the lovely people behind it, please watch this video where they show and explain themselves what and why they are doing what they are doing.
