Loaf Newsletter 13/10/26 - Stall at the Bournville Market on Sunday

Loaf bakery & cookery school Loaf bakery & cookery school

Hello everyone,

Dorit here with the newsletter from Loaf.

Thanks to everyone who came last week to the Farmers Market in Kings Norton. It’s been really good to join this market!

Our little market stall at Kings Norton Farmers Market last Saturday.

This Sunday 18th October we will be back with a stall at the Bournville Green to join Birmingham Artisan Market!

Molly and Kate took care of the sweets for this week (the Oat Banana Date Slice is back!) and we decided our lunch menu for the week today during our Loaf meeting. We hope you enjoy as much as we do some warming food. Rach will make a lovely roasted onion Sourdough to go with the Friday lunch.

Thank you to everyone who keeps checking in with us how it’s going with SCD. It’s going forward with the leases, but it is still work in progress. As soon as we know dates, we will let you know.

Cotterdige Park Needs Your Help With 30,000 Daffodil Bulbs

That’s a lot of daffodil bulbs!

Cotterdige Park is celebrating 30 years of volunteering and what a nice idea is it to have PLENTY - 30.000 flowers - yes 30.000 daffodils!

Now they need support to plant all of these. Sounds like time spend well to you? You can either just join for their planting sessions on Sundays 10.15-11.15 or Tuesdays from 10-11 every week until they are all planted. Or you can organise a group of volunteers and contact the Friends of Cotteridge Park via email ([email protected]) to set up a different time with you. Maybe your work place, sports team or another social group would be up for this?

‘A Body of Work’: New Stirchley Exhibition Explores Women’s Health Through Recycled Printmaking

Stirchley Art Room has a new exhibition at The Open Page Gallery in the reading room of Stirchley Library of works. It’s an exhibition by local artist Lorraine Loveland-Armour showing prints exploring one woman's experience of illness, grief and recovery and is an intensely personal journey that illustrates grief, trauma and illness but also recovery, hope and legacy. I haven’t seen it yet, but I heard a lot of goods things about the Art Room itself and I am really looking forward to go to the Library soon to look at this touching exhibition myself.

Lorraine Loveland-Armour uses recycled Tetrapak packaging to create intricate prints exploring women's health, identity and wellbeing.

The exhibition already opened last week, runs until 21st November and you can visit it now during Stirchley Library opening hours and Stirchley Art Room sessions. There will be an additional Tetrapak Printing Workshop led by Lorraine on 22nd November too!

Venue: Open Page Gallery, Stirchley Library, 8 Bournville Lane, Stirchley, Birmingham, B30 2JT

Pre-order Info

➡️ Click HERE to pre-order bread and buns for Wednesday till Saturday. If you don’t want to pre-order that’s alright, we always have more to sell, but we try not to let anything go to waste, so pre-orders are very helpful.

At the moment we can offer every day for pre-orders: Large White Sourdough, Focaccia, Cobs, Cardamom Buns and Cinnamon Buns. Our bakers will always try to make other loaf varieties and buns as well, but need to decide every week or even in the morning what is possible with the limited time and space we have at the moment.

➡️ Cut-off time for all pre-orders is 11am on the day before pick up!

Thanks so much to STEAMHOUSE for their continued support in letting us use a corner of their bakery in Redditch - we honestly do not know what we would have done without their generosity. 💛 💛 💛
