Adding attachments to your outgoing newsletter

Buttondown is a newsletter tool that makes it silky-smooth to add PDFs, CSVs, and more to outgoing emails

Want to include an attachment in your newsletter? No problem! Seasoned pro or newsletter newbie, Buttondown has your back!

An attachment is a file that is taken from a computer and added to an email. When an attachment is added, most email engines show the attachment at the bottom of the email. In the gif below, you can see that Gmail has two ways to check that your attachment is added to your email. There is a written confirmation, “one attachment added”, and a visual confirmation, you can see the file. It’s always good to double-check that the attachment is connected to your email by taking a look at the attachment verification before sending your newsletter out to your subscribers.

Suppose, you’re a Spanish tutor and you want to send your class your weekly lesson plan. To add an attachment to your newsletter, you drag the file from your computer and drop your file into the email draft. That’s it! Now you can send your email and your subscriber will be able to click the file that is at the bottom of the email and see your lesson plan. This isn’t limited to presentations. Many files are able to be added to emails including pictures, videos, audio files, and presentations as we mentioned in our example.
