🇯🇵 KIX Airport Café Lounge NODOKA
After walking around Nara more than I expected, I headed straight to Kansai Airport.
I was meeting my parents there before flying to Australia, so I wanted to take a moment to reset a bit before the trip.
That’s when I decided to stop by the KIX Airport Café Lounge NODOKA.
Having a small pause like this can change the whole feeling of a journey.
📍 Basic Info (for those planning to visit)

Location: Aeroplaza 2F, across from Terminal 1, Kansai International Airport (KIX)
Google Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/buTBBFGaJQM81hby8
Access: Just across the walkway from Nankai / JR Kansai Airport Station (right-side building)
Opening hours: 24 hours
Facilities: Soft drinks, lounge space (including grass-style area), paid showers
🏙️ What it felt like

The lounge is located on the 2nd floor of Aeroplaza, just across from Terminal 1.
It’s right across the walkway from Nankai / JR Kansai Airport Station, in the building on the right, so it’s quite easy to find.
Since it’s outside the security area, anyone can use it, which makes it even more convenient.
Inside, it felt more spacious than I expected, and overall very clean.
There are café seats, reclining areas, and even a grass-style section.
It felt less like a typical airport lounge, and more like a calm space to settle into for a while.
🚿 Shower

This was the main reason I stopped by.
After walking a lot in Nara, having access to a shower made a big difference.
The private rooms were clean, and everything you’d need was there.
Even a short shower was enough to reset before the flight.
🍛 Food & Drinks

Soft drinks are included, and there are light meals available as well.
I ended up ordering curry since I was getting a bit hungry.
There’s something nice about having a warm meal in a place like this.
✍️ What stayed with me

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much at first—just a place to freshen up before the flight.
But it turned out to be more comfortable than I had imagined.
If you’re looking to take a shower or spend some quiet time before departure, it’s a really solid option.
It wasn’t something I had planned ahead of time, but having a place like this made the transition into the trip feel a bit smoother.
Just a couple of hours, but it felt like the right kind of pause before moving on.

⚡️ Bitcoin Notes of the Week
BIP361 was recently proposed.
It’s framed as a preparation for a future quantum threat—introducing changes that could eventually phase out current signature schemes.
At a glance, it sounds like a reasonable step toward long-term resilience.
But the approach feels a bit off.
What stands out is how heavy-handed it is.
Forcing migration at the consensus layer, especially given the current tradeoffs in cost, efficiency, and usability of post-quantum schemes, doesn’t quite align with how Bitcoin has evolved so far.
Bitcoin has historically leaned on:
voluntary adoption
wallet defaults
fee incentives
rather than protocol-level enforcement.
The quantum threat itself remains theoretical.
And even if it becomes practical at some point, the economics of such an attack likely wouldn’t justify targeting most users—especially smaller UTXOs.
That path feels like something we should fully explore first.
In that context, introducing deadlines and invalidating legacy signatures feels premature.
It risks unnecessary disruption, and more importantly, sets a precedent.
Once the protocol starts enforcing how funds must be migrated—or when they expire—it changes something fundamental.
Bitcoin has largely avoided that kind of constraint.
There’s also a deeper tension here.
Bitcoin has been valued, in part, for being resistant to confiscation and external control.
Designing mechanisms that could eventually render funds unusable starts to move in the opposite direction.

The quantum threat is real in theory, but still uncertain in practice.
Rushing into structural changes without clear answers could introduce risks of its own.
It might make sense from a certain perspective.
But overall, it feels like a move that adds complexity, creates new risks, and could undermine some of Bitcoin’s core properties.
🤖 AI Notes of the Week

Lately, I’ve been running into the limits on Codex more often.
I’m on the Plus plan, but since the recent changes (and the bonus period ending), it just doesn’t feel like enough anymore.
If I start early in the morning and really get into it, I can hit the limit before 10am.
That part caught me off guard.
At the same time, it made me realize something.
How much I’ve come to rely on it.
From what I understand, the current setup is based on rolling limits—both over a 5-hour window and on a weekly basis.
And depending on how you use it, especially with heavier settings, those limits can disappear pretty quickly.
I’m starting to wonder whether upgrading to the Pro plan makes sense.
Or maybe it’s just a matter of how I’m using it.
Either way, it feels like I’m still figuring out the balance.
If you’re using Codex as well, I’d be curious how you’re managing it.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
🤔 Closing Thoughts

I’ve always liked train tracks.
There’s something about them that makes me feel a bit excited.
I’m not entirely sure why.
Maybe it’s because they bring back memories of past trips, or maybe it’s the thought of where they might lead next.
One thing I appreciate about Japan is how far you can go by train.
Almost anywhere, really.
It makes you wonder what kind of journey comes next.
For now, I just want to keep this kind of life going, and make today count in a small, steady way.
