A return to the Great Lover
Having tried many different ways of healing over the years—from therapy and yoga to meditation, breathwork, and cold plunges—I’ve found that some of the deepest healing comes from feeling loved.
And I wonder if, underneath all of it, what we’re really longing for is love.
I came across these words from David Benner that have stayed with me:
“Only love is capable of genuine transformation. Willpower is inadequate. Spiritual effort falls short too. If we are to become great lovers, we must return again and again to the Great Lover.”
— Dr. David G. Benner, Sacred Companions
Many of us have a mental understanding that we are loved by God, yet we may lack a felt experience of this Sacred Love.
So today I’m sharing a simple practice for experiencing God’s love in your body—not just knowing it in your mind.
My hope is that it becomes something you can return to again and again, whenever you need to remember the Great Lover.
