September #1 - This Turned Into A Brain Dump

Hi there.

Not only did I not get a second newsletter out last month, my previous email had an incorrect link in it. Here is the correct link to my July book recap. I also meant to get a look ahead to August done with all my ARCs and stuff, but never did. If I can summon up the energy this weekend, I’ll get my August recap and my September sneak peak posts written up, though.

We’ve got two weeks of school in the books and I’m just tired. Seems like middle immediately brought something home the middle of the first week (not difficult as he has asthma/a narrow airway and just picks up things so easily) that has since been passed onto the rest of us as of last night. It’s just a mild cold, but with his health issues, we’re monitoring it closely and keeping on top of his rescue inhaler use to hopefully keep it from getting worse and requiring a doctor’s visit. With youngest, it’s also just a case of wait and see if we’ll need a doctor’s appointment. With her being so young still, even a mild cold can be enough to knock her out, but hopefully we can avoid that for both of them. The rest of us is just a kind of wait and see, but oldest seems to have some ear pain, too. So, that’s just great.

We managed to get a couple more pool visits in before it closed up for the summer and I got a less blinding shade of pale even with sunscreen. The goal next year is to get in there much more often and, if we’re lucky, youngest will be able to start pre-k at our elementary school and I’ll have the first two weeks they’re in school to go to the pool every day all by myself. 😂😂

August #1 - 📚 14 More Days Til School 🏫

Hi, folks!

At some point in the future, I'm sure I'll write and schedule these emails ahead of time, so I'm not feeling so lost in the sauce.

Anyway! If you're interested in my July book recap, you can bring yourself over here, but here, I'll include the ARCs I have lined up for this month. I have other books I intend to read for book clubs etc, but these are just the advanced reader copies I have that come out this month. I’ve already finished Devour Me and have started on Local Gods.

A graphic with nine different book covers randomly displayed across a black background:

Devour Me by Emily Rath
Never Whistle at Night Part #2: Back for Blood edited by Shane Hawk, Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.
Blue Moon Cafe & 24-Hour Occult Emporium by Lexie Sharabianlou
You'll Be the Death of Me by Holly Michelle
Local Gods by Melinda Salisbury
Want Me, Take Me, Haunt Me, Make Me by Isabel Crowley
Amigurumi Fairies by Amber Beaulieu
(Mostly) Human Resources by Grace Viall
Devil Inside by Clay McLeod Chapman
all the August ARCs I have to read

July 2026 #2 - 97 Days Until 🎃 Halloween 🎃

Hi, folks! I had intended to get something out by mid-month, but things got a little off-center after my gallbladder surgery. I hope everyone is enjoying the back half of their summer. We haven’t had a single chance to get into the pool in our apartment complex yet and the hottest week was, of course, the week immediately following my surgery, so I couldn’t go in the pool in the first place! What a bummer! Virginia sure hasn’t disappointed with the hot temps this year, though, my gosh! There’s still about a month left before the kids head back to school, so there should still be some time!

Continuing from that, if you follow me on any social media platform or you are in my Discord server, you know that my partner took an extra day off to help me during my immediate post-op recovery and, instead of being able to swap days off or use PTO (they didn’t have enough to cover it), they just lost an entire day’s worth of pay. Unfortunately, this has caused a chain reaction in the following weeks and we’re in a really rough spot financially. This is/was really not my intent with getting this newsletter up and running, but we could really use some extra help this month with covering rent/bills and groceries.

I’m in the process of making some more things for my storefront (which you can find here), but I do still have a small amount of products listed available to ship immediately. I also have tarot readings available on my Ko-Fi commissions page (found here). You can also use Ko-Fi to simply tip me (if you enjoy the variety of things I put out into the world) or similar.

Having said all that, what I'd really like to talk about is the fact that there's less than a hundred days until Halloween and I haven't even started on making anything Halloween-themed! I feel like this happens every year with every holiday... Oops. Maybe once all three of my kids are in school full-time, I'll be more organized with this stuff. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, though, and it's a good time for me to look for stuff I want to keep in my house year-round!

July 2026 #1 - Goodbye, Pride. 🏳‍🌈 Hello, Wrath! 😡

Hello, friends.

I meant to get one more newsletter out for June, but things just kind of got away from me (as they do), so let's kick off July right!

Personally, I didn't get to participate in anything really Pride-related, but I hope you did! If you'd like to follow that up with some Wrath, please be sure to watch your state's legislation for any upcoming anti-trans bills, because, unfortunately, there's a lot of that going around and we need to make sure they don't take root!

Here's a webpage made specifically for tracking all that: TransLegislation.com (frankly, the numbers are staggering, but every one in VA has failed!) If you have any other resources you like, don't hesitate to reply to this email with a list!

June 2026 #1 - Steam NextFest Mini Reviews

Hi, folks. Thanks for joining me here! This (my very first real newsletter email) is going to contain a bunch of very short reviews from game demos I checked out during the most recent round of Steam NextFest!

Hopefully you’ll find something new and fun to check out that’s already out or coming out soon!

Defrag Incremental from Pollo Arcade Low Bit

Review: Fun for what it is: something to leave up while doing something else nearby/number go up but make it retro and nostalgic for Millennials/Gen X.

Would I buy it: Maybe, for a couple bucks (under $5)

How long did I play the demo: at least an hour/the entire available demo

Welcome to Mx Mary Moon's Missives!

Hey. It’s great to see you.

I'm Mary (on the internet as MxMaryMoon basically everywhere), and this is where I plan to share a lot of things.

At the moment, the plan is to send these out no more than twice a month, shop updates notwithstanding, with things like:

- game reviews (multiple short snippets or longer single game reviews)
- progress photos when I’m working on
- writing snippets
- personal updates and more

My first actual update before June is over is going to be some short-form (1-3 lines) reviews of a ton of game demos I checked out during the most recent Steam NextFest!

Thanks for being here,
Mary 💜
