the first conversation
26/03/26
Before
I feel nervous about talking to D on the phone later. I hate asking anyone to help me with anything but he has agreed to the conversation and recording. Not sure why I’m doing this. No, I am sure. I can make work that is predictable or I can make work that is unpredictable, in relation to how it feels to create it and in relation to the outcome and reception. I am talking to him and I am making this because I don’t know the answers and I want to contemplate the possibilities, not because I already know something and want to tell people about it.
After
I felt shy, it was good. I asked him what he remembered about when we first met and he mentioned I was wearing all back and I recalled some things as we were talking, like us dancing in my apartment. He didn’t remember that it was raining the day we went to the Barbican but I remember the rain clearly, misty and inconvenient. We both remembered sitting on the couches after walking through the exhibition. We sat and talked there for a long time.
