there can be such pain and frustration in not being witnessed. anything can be done in your life if someone is watching. desperation to be listened to and understood evolves and mutates alongside new forms of expression and production. each new media perpetuates and perpetuates the human problem of over identification with the self. with new ways to be seen, being seen is further craved. if someone is watching us we can mediate our mundane and traumatic and disappointing and successful experiences through their gaze. if someone is paying attention, anything can seem worthwhile. if no one is looking at my art, my art was never created. if no one is looking at me, I was never born.
