Plant spirits, part two

Continuing in the series discussing plant spirits, we present part two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUnLTIkltJg

This instalment features an outline of the idea of plant spirits as presented by Western alchemy, and how they are dealt with. The alchemical method is a departure from the shamanic approach, and relies upon the manipulation of the plant itself by a process which concentrates the spiritual vessel of the plant into an ingestible format, resulting in the integration of some aspect of that plant into the consciousness of the one who takes it. This is the primum ens, or 'first being'.

Aside from a few plants, notably Melissa (lemon balm), little is known about the attributes and effects of plants when taken in this way. However, it is known that the effects of the primum ens of a plant cannot reliably be matched to its ordinary herbal qualities, although there is likely some method of perceiving those other qualities which is not widely known, or even known at all by human beings. For now, deducing these attributes is a matter of experimentation.

This brings us a little closer to a more acceptable method of acknowledging the reality of plant spirits and potentially working with plants to heal ourselves. In the next episode, we will present an outline of alchemy and so-called 'Hermeticism' and some objections and responses.

Plant spirits, part one

The first video discussing plant spirits is now available on the YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uV61LV0V0R0

Please forgive the choppy editing. The discussion (I) veered off-topic quite a bit.

This video introduces the series discussing the subject of plant spirits. Discussed in part one are the absolute basics of what we are talking about, along with an overview of shamanic practices and general experiences and beliefs. I realise that this could become a controversial subject, but by the end of the series I expect that all will be reconciled, so bear with me as we explore it more thoroughly than has been done in the past by our scholars.

There are people who offer consultations in this area. I am not one of them. I offer no instruction as to techniques for working with these entities. I am discussing the shamanic practices in order to introduce the most widely-known aspect and because the majority of the information available comes from such sources.

A better way to store seeds

The inaugural 27:4 newsletter and video features a practical topic: The problem of seed storage. Many solutions have been proposed, and most of them are annoying to work with. Feel free to skip the rest and go straight to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qF0R0thLb8

Seeds come in many shapes and sizes, from tiny Melissa seeds to enormous mango pits. While my method won't be very useful for larger seeds, it's the best solution I've found for seeds of ordinary sizes. The bags can be sealed, or left open to make them breathable, or paper bags can be substituted for plastic.
