What's on Tap RI: August 28–30

What's on Tap RI: August 28–30

The biggest beer event of the Rhode Island summer lands Saturday evening in Providence, and Bristol quietly booked a weekend of music around it. Past that, it's a pick-your-region weekend: Westerly has a set every afternoon, Portsmouth has a food truck every day, and Wakefield landed a real touring band on Friday. Take whichever is closest.

⭐ If you only pick one: Brew at the Zoo — Saturday, 5–8 at Roger Williams Park Zoo. Hundreds of pours, two bands, and animal encounters. 21+, and buy ahead — VIP is already sold out.

Brew at the Zoo — Providence

Best wildcard • Music ✓ • Food ✓ • Tickets • 21+

Sat: Brew at the Zoo — Roger Williams Park Zoo, 5–8
Music — TJ & the Campers and Super Tusk
Food — food carts plus the Zoo's two cafes; no outside food or drink
Hundreds of beers, seltzers and cocktails, a new wine tasting, and animal encounters. Rain or shine.

Why go: It's the state's largest outdoor beer festival, now in its 13th year — one ticket, hundreds of pours, and a band all night.

Pivotal Brewing — Bristol

Best music weekend • Music ✓

Fri: Music — Just Us, 6:30–9:30, classic rock
Sat: Music — Rose Wharf Band, 6:30–9:30, a Grateful Dead tribute

Why go: Two full band nights back to back in the mill taproom — the rare brewery where Friday and Saturday are equally worth the drive.

Grey Sail Brewing — Westerly

Best all-weekend hang • Music ✓

Fri: Music — Glenn Thomas, 5–8
Sat: Music — Benjamin Quinn, 4–7 • Ashawaug Farm pop-up, 3–6
Sun: Music — Paul Carhar, 2–5
Sat and Sun: Summer merch blowout — $5, $10 and $15 racks

Why go: A set every afternoon for three straight days, so you go whenever you're actually free instead of planning around it.

Ragged Island Brewing — Portsmouth

Best food weekend • Music ✓ • Food ✓

Fri: Music — Dave Alves, 5:30–8:30 • Food — Farm to Sandwich, 4–8
Sat: Food — Rhode Rage, 1–8
Sun: Food — South County BBQ, 1–7

Why go: A different truck parked at the farm all three days, and Friday adds a set in the taproom — the easiest one to bring hungry people to.

Whalers Brewing — South Kingstown

Best single show • Music ✓

Fri: Music — Crooked Coast, 7:30, an alt-rock band from Cape Cod, in the taproom

Why go: An out-of-state band booked into a South County taproom on a Friday night — not something that comes around often.
