Dandelion

The next experiment from our ongoing research in new ways of interacting. Blow to spread dandelion seeds to another screen.

You are reading Future Visions, a newsletter by Uncommon Practice. This edition shares from our ongoing research playground for brand expression.

What if two separate displays become aware of each other?

Together with designer Sam Dekocker, we created Dandelion. Itโ€™s an experiment in spatial connectivity, triggered by human interaction.

The prototype lets users blow to spread flower seeds to another screen.

And when the dandelion is opened on a desktop, you can shake its tab to spread seeds to other tabs.

We like how itโ€™s unexpected in a digital world, but at the same time feels very natural in the real world.

We realized itโ€™s a good principle to build new-ish interactions with: it makes visitors look, creates a sense of wonder, but at the same time feels so natural that they get it right away.

  • In March we asked Xenia Dobonyi of GIVENCHY what the future of e-commerce holds. Read the interview.
