2026_W34:Peaky 8-bit, Blender work, etc

Brief Update

Let me jump straight into Peaky 8-bit updates right from this brief report!
I finally used up the "translucent blue" PETG filament that I hastily ordered when I was running out of stock, so I was able to switch over to the "translucent grey" I had set aside... and here is how it turned out!

The color looks really clean and subtle, doesn't it?
I also really like how the layer lines look from the side with the light shining through.

Maybe because I've been building custom keyboards myself, whenever I check my timeline on X recently, I keep seeing posts like "I had AI design a PCB! (soldering done by human)" from both Japanese and international creators.
When I shared this trend (?) with one of my clients, they seemed super intrigued.
While it's amazing how accessible hardware design has become (and continues to become), I also can't help feeling a bit of urgency and anxiety about where things are heading—in the classic sense of "how to survive as a creator moving forward."

I've caught up on quite a few things to make up for being completely wiped out two weeks ago!

Listed Peaky 8-bit v2.1 on Tindie
This time, I listed it as a "fully assembled" unit.
There will only be 1 in stock for this version.
https://www.tindie.com/products/toya_works/assembled-peaky-8-bit-prototype-v21-wireless/

Also, once the remaining parts arrive, I plan to list v2.2 on Tindie as an assembled build as well.
I will start with just 1 in stock for that one too, but I currently have enough PCBs on hand to build about 3 sets, so I'll restock as demand comes in.

(いつもお世話になっているr/ErgoMechKeyboardsに投稿予定)

Planning a long-overdue progress post on Reddit
It will cover mostly the same updates shared in this newsletter, but I plan to post an update over the weekend.
(Planning to post on `r/ErgoMechKeyboards`, which I always frequent!)

I also recorded a demo video of myself typing in English on the P8 for the Reddit post and the Tindie page.
Here is a look at it:

For this video, I swapped the key switches to clicky ones for better audio feedback.
(Hot-swap is truly a godsend!!)

Since X changed its "Media" tab away from the grid view (making it much harder to browse), and updating my Astro/SSG-based long-form blog felt too cumbersome just for casual posts since it requires pushing to GitHub every time, I decided to build a mini-blog where I can toss up quick updates just like tweeting on X.

Here are a few cross-posts from there!
Going forward, whenever I have something more comprehensive or written in long form, I'll link back to my main journal/blog articles.
So, here's what I created this week:

That's it for this week.
