Hello friends,

Whispered Awakening had its live launch this past week in the beautiful towns of Boise and McCall, Idaho. The Boise concert took place in the amazing Sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, a space that seemed made for a solo guitar concert. Both my classical and flamenco guitar resonated beautifully off the curved ceiling, brick walls, and stone floors.

Initially I was quite nervous, as I was playing this collection of new compositions together for the first time before an audience unfamiliar with some of traditional rhythms that inform a number of the pieces. The audience settled into both the rhythmic pieces and the more contemplative ones.

I was moved by the phrase on the wall behind me — "you are the branches" — which expresses my vision that in the best performances there is no separation between performer and audience. There is oneness in service of music.

The next day, I traveled to the beautiful mountain resort town of McCall, at the invitation of the McCall Music Society. Thanks to a feature article in the local newspaper, the venue was packed, and an enthusiastic audience received the new pieces with a standing ovation. Thank you to all that were able to attend.
