Hi friends,

A journey that began in January 2024 came to fruition last Friday, May 1st, with the release of my new album, Whispered Awakening.  I had a vision of creating a series of musical “short stories”, each evoking a particular time, place, or memory.  I was less concerned with making a guitar statement than a personal one — that within some of those special moments exist infinities far beyond what we might imagine.

Each piece was “given” to me—some easily, others after a good deal of searching. At times I needed other people to reflect back what the music meant to them; other times, I had to confront my own obstacles to understand what it meant to me. A writer friend of mine living in Vietnam expressed it beautifully upon hearing the album:

“Nothing is explained too loudly. It feels more like you’re placing something gently in front of the listener and then stepping back, letting whatever is meant to happen.”

Sunday in Brooklyn, we gave life to this vision in front of a beautiful audience in Ft Greene. I was joined by longtime friends and musical collaborators Enrique Lopez (guitar), Urbano Sanchez (percussion) and Barry Kornhauser (cello) — pictured aboves. It was amazing to feel the audience travel with us in the telling of these musical stories, and most importantly, knowing that together, we generated some hope and joy that we could all carry with us.

I’ll be performing another show in Brooklyn this Sunday, May 10th. While this is not a Whispered Awakening concert, I’d love to have you join me for this live show with Sam Barrios (keys), Donald Nicks (bass), and Urbano Sanchez (percussion). No tickets required. Details below:
