Hello and welcome to another episode of 'ENERGY SOURCES' – the interlude newsletter as part of my ENERGY TRANSMISSION.
Resuming to this format before continuing my interviews next month for sure! This listicle helps me to fill the gaps while trying to send out a newsletter every month. So, here we go again! Big thanks to THE AMBITION for supporting me on every issue. 🙏
If you have any recommendations, links or wanna chat – please feel always free to reply to the mails. 🌚
These are my new energy sources for February '23:
ABC Radio Program: Who's Gonna Save Us?
This is a radio program by the Australian Broadcasting Company that explores the themes of hope and resilience in the face of global challenges such as climate change, pandemics, and political unrest. Hosted by journalist Rebecca Levingston, the program features in-depth conversations with experts, activists, and ordinary people who are making a difference in their communities. Tune in to be uplifted and informed.
UNLESS COLLECTIVE: The Degenerate
'The Degenerate' is a sleek sneaker from Unless Collective, a sustainable streetwear brand that prioritizes environmentally friendly materials and ethical manufacturing practices. Made from recycled ocean plastics, organic cotton, and natural rubber, this shoe is designed to meet a minimalist aesthetic and comfortable fit. Reduce your carbon footprint – quite literally. Love to see more of these coming.
Sony Walkman NW-ZX700 – a brand new Walkman!
Sony has launched a new line of Walkman music players, featuring stunning design and the latest Android 12 operating system. The new Walkman is a blend of vintage design and modern technology, bringing back the classic feel of the original Walkman from the 80s and 90s with a sleek new look. Experience the best of both worlds with this iconic music player.
Cultural Observations: Influencers by Meditations for the anxious mind
Protect Frankie aka @Meditationsfortheanxiousmind at all costs! This guy takes research and 'Cultural Observations' to a whole 'nother level. On the street equipped with his mic and a camera he investigates the crazy sides of cultural phenomenas. His latest instalment covering 'Influencers' might be my new favorite skit of his. Getting philosophical with insights like "Influencers are creatures of spectacle. They have to continuously socially reproduce themselves through images in order to stay relevant”.
While browsing Hasbro Pulse for some new Pre-Orders and Power Rangers Collectibles – yes, I really did watch their livestream about it – I stumbled upon this neat feature: The Selfie Series. You can pretty much make your very own version of a Power Ranger or super hero. Like, with your head and face and all. Pretty good gift if you ask me! Until now, it's unfortunately only available in the US...
The Speed Project Shortfilm by Good Planets
In about a month or so, a bunch of crazy runners people will once again go on a spiritual journey and take the route from Venice Beach, Los Angeles to the famous Las Vegas sign. The two creatives from Good Planets have perfectly captured and put out what it must feel like to take this crazy ass race. Make sure to check out the film and follow them on Instagram. The TSP is still sitting high on my bucket list; let's see where the next years take me. But I will watch closely how this thing rolls out this year!
Sometimes you find good magazines not with issue one, but with issue #34. I was browsing my favorite magazine shop Coffee Table Mags when I cam across 'Like The Wind'. I had to order and fall in love with it. The team really nails the 'why' in running and what stories make the sport this great and inspiring. In the current issue, I was really touched by the article by Lela Moore. She meets adaptive athletes looking for equity in competitive sport and shares stories about individual determination, the creation of communities and how the sport of running accepts adaptive athletes.
Inverse Magazine: TOASTY DIGITAL
Published in the former INPUT, now INVERSE Magazine, we meet Toasty Digital. A rising DJ and music producer who has been making waves in the industry with his unique blend of classic hip-hop and modern electronic beats. And mixing two artists together in blends you may have never heard before creating something super fresh! Keep an eye on this talented artist and don't miss out on the latest Toasty Digital mixes on his YouTube. One of my favorites might be BLONDA.
NYTimes Guest Essay Opinion: The Problem With Taking TikTok Away From Americans
The New York Times recently published a guest article by Glenn S. Gerstell, a senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, about the ongoing controversy surrounding the ban of TikTok in the United States. The article delves into the reasons behind the ban, including concerns about national security and the potential for data misuse. It also explores the impact of the ban on TikTok's user base and the larger technology industry, raising important questions about the role of technology companies in our lives and the need for regulations to ensure the protection of user data and privacy. It is a must-read if you work in media in any form – trust me.
🔊And now, some new music to pump in your office:
Born in 2000, Ice Spice is making huge waves beyond her Y2K vibe across the rap game. And how the Vogue says she's 'just getting started'. The rapper and It-girl from New York is all over TikTok, Instagram and YouTube – and will soon stuck in your head. Her viral hit 'In Ha Mood' is so catchy you will catch yourself singing it at your desk. And if not, then her feature with PinkPantheress 'Boy's a liar' will replace it. Her voice and style is unique and sure is here to stay.
Vic Mensa – Strawberry Louis Vuitton (ft. Thundercat & Maeta)
Vic Mensa's new single 'Strawberry Louis Vuitton' has this beautiful vibe to it and a gorgeous looking 4:3 music video. You feel the feature and presence of Thundercat everywhere in this. And I'm up for it! Personally hoping that punk era of his is over...
AntsLive – Number One Candidate
Another beautifully shot and executed video is this one from upcoming talent AntsLive. You see the title card pop up, the beat drops and you're in it and can't stop listening to this likeable rapper. And the beginning had this reference to the movie NOPE and the first motion picture ever, right? I felt like it. Anyway, enjoy the show! The best UK rap visuals of the year – already in January!
Zack Bia – Hardcore (ft. Don Toliver)
I don't know... Zack Bia is just not the most likeable person out there. And the music video to this song is the usual hyperflexin' and status stuff. In a nice aesthetic though. BUT – once this song entered your head, it stays there. And you start bouncing to it. Don Toliver's unique voice on Bia's beat is just so addictive.
RUA at Fire in the Booth Germany
Now to someone you gotta love. And you gotta listen to the whole year: RUA. She blew my mind with this Fire In The Booth skit above and by just releasing the best German Rap album of the year 'Dirty South' – already in January! Yes, and I mean it. Her voice, her flow, the beats, the lyrics – she has a lot to say and has every right to say it! She is here to level up a new era of Deutschrap. Add her to your library – NOW!
That's it for now. I hope you feel inspired or energized in any way by this newsletter and make the most of it! Protect your energy.✨
Finally. Next month we return to the interviews. For real. Happy to have Phil G. Lovelace as my guest. Energy exchange in progress... ♻️
See you! 🫂✨
