1. A sprawling tree of considerable breadth, known for its expansive canopy and robust trunk, often creating its own microclimate beneath its boughs.

Etymology. From Latin ficus (fig) + macrophylla (large-leaved), referring to the plant's substantial foliage. Clearly, it never skipped a day at arboreal gym.
