3.19 — Extension Request

Pursuant to Section 4.13.F in the Company Handbook, this communication serves as a formal request for an extension for the filing of the weekly Paperwork, and in so requesting and sending meets the stated requirements for a content delay, which are imaginary. The author appreciates your understanding.

Things to be aware in the immediate, which shall have passed by the time the next issue is released, and are therefore required to be included in this extension request:

  • Summery is tonight. It’s one of the very biggest (emotionally speaking) events of the whole year, and we hope to see you there. Presenters will include Morgan, the author, Livvy, Allyson, Lauren T., Madeleine, Mark, Jim, and possibly Michelle, though at the time of this writing she has not provided confirmation, which is totally okay, and the author is not bothered by, nor—the author wants it to be known—is the inclusion of this detail here meant in any untoward way, for the author holds her in great esteem and love, and she could still present if she wanted to, for the author would love to hear about her summer—no, no, the author has included this detail here (along with this aside about what it doesn’t and does mean) out of a compulsive stylistic wandering into stream-of-consciousness which does beset him from time to time.

  • Weekly Wednesday Worknight is tomorrow

  • In the Making is Thursday, and will feature (perhaps (the author has not yet had the chance to verify the most updated information on Whiteboard, and his memory may be faulty)) Will, Madeleine and the author, Derek, Jim, Livvy and the author, and Norton. This will likely be the author’s last In the Making for a time as the next one falls a day before the due date of the his first child.

  • The Moth GrandSlam, at which Madeleine is competing, is on Friday. Tickets have sold out, but, if you’re attending, you’re invited to communicate with us and join our support crew, which will likely gather beforehand and certainly afterhand, as the second best part of a story show is its debriefing.

  • Mary Ann’s Book club is Monday, and will be discussing The Compound by Aisling Rawle, which the author (here meaning this author, and not Aisling Rawle, who is the author of the book (and here the (this) author would like to acknowledge and apologize that this third person style may be getting annoying and is at the very least, in this specific instance, confusing, but when he began using this device he imagined this would be a much shorter extension request, and he had some interest in a setting up a seed for his presentation this evening, which he is writing in the third person) has not had time to read, but believes Jessica S. has spoken positively of, though perhaps the author is simply thinking of how Jessica S. seems like the kind of person who would love this book in particular.

Content to be included in the following issue:

  • A full introduction

  • Two weeks worth of photos and nostalgia

  • Two weeks worth of bureaucratic minutiae

Reasons given for the request:

  • The author is exhausted

  • The author has many other things to do

  • The author mismanaged his time, and will have more time next week, probably, and it’s a bit like Tetris these days—the shifting around of all those colored blocks on all those rigid columns, how it’s increasing in speed, and things either clear or stack, and mistakes compound (it is also like Tetris in that the author doesn’t enjoy Tetris)—and it seemed better, in this puzzle of time, to send a timely reminder about this week’s events than to wait to finish the standard issue standard issue (which the author would like you to know is wordplay and not a typo).
