Video Debate, Podcasts, and New November Conference

Hi Everyone,

It seems like AI is the topic of the age, doesn’t it? For better or worse, the debates continue. We’re all trying to figure it out in real time.

As Big Tech continues to push AI into every nook and cranny of our lives, I think we should at least take a posture of healthy skepticism. Silicon Valley is selling something. What is it, exactly? And what do we risk by doing things their way?

To that end, here’s a smorgasbord of recent updates that I hope will inform and encourage you:

  • I posted an open letter asking BibleHub.com to stop using LLMs. Janet Parshall and I talked about it on a recent episode of her Moody broadcast as well. You’ll see why I now call LLM writing “word sausage.”

  • Renew.org hosted a debate on the question, “Should We Use GenAI in ministry?” You can view the friendly conversation between two people who strongly disagree here.

  • Network engineering guru Dr. Russ White hosted me on his “The Hedge” podcast to talk about my convictions against using GenAI for software engineering. Whether you’re nerdy or not, I think you’ll enjoy the depth of our conversation.

  • And coming up in November: I’ve been invited to speak at an important new conference near Lancaster, PA called the Biblical Worldview Conference. I’ll be sharing two talks about AI. If you can make it, I’d love to see you there! (I’m working and praying to have my new book ready before the event. I appreciate your prayers to that end.)

As you can see, it’s been a full month, and there’s a lot more to come!

I welcome your questions or feedback on these things or anything else you’d like to share.

God’s best to you all!

Doug
