Hello, writers!
Another proper newsletter is on the way soon full of tips, resources and competitions, but for now I wanted to let you know about an exciting summer intensive course starting soon on 3rd August.
What is it?
GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER is explored over three sessions, breaking down the components of Act 1, Act 2 and Act 3 in storytelling. I’ve created this in response to many recent queries about storytelling craft and editing. It ‘s a comprehensive course and will help your writing become tighter, more effective and easier to edit. You’ll learn how to apply the different acts to your writing and how to avoid common pitfalls.
You’ll find this course helpful whether you’re at the planning stage, currently writing a draft or in the throes of editing. And it’s suitable for writers of any book for any age, from picture books to middle grade to adult novels – so whatever you’re writing, it’s applicable.
Where and when?
The course runs on Zoom over three consecutive evenings:
Monday 3rd August, 7pm BST - Act 1 - How to set up your story and hook your reader
Tuesday 4th August, 7pm BST - Act 2 - How to create a tight middle to your story
Wednesday 5th August, 7pm BST - Act 3 - How to wrap it up in a satisfactory way
How much does it cost?
I’m keen to make excellent teaching affordable for everyone, so the cost for the course is only £32 (plus the Eventbrite admin fee). If you’d like to pay in instalments, let me know and we can work something out.
If you can’t make it live?
I appreciate it’s summer and everyone’s busy, so all three sessions will be recorded if you are unable to attend live and will be sent out to everyone who registers. They will be available until the end of August so there’s plenty of time to catch up.
