Spring is Here!
An Equinox Hello
Dear reader,
Yesterday was the vernal equinox, when day and night stood even. And so begins a new zodiac cycle with Aries the ram giving way to more light. Although I dearly miss the winter wonderland, I’ve relished small signs of life emerging the past few weeks: rhubarb buds poking through the melting snow, motorcyclists out in full force, snowdrops’ perfect little green hearts, crocuses open to the sun in the afternoons. And the ospreys are back!
This time of rebirth is ideal for tarot readings. Get in touch if you’d like to host a spring gathering, or book a 1:1 tarot consult to seize the momentum of the astrological new year.
Cheers, Haley Smith Kingsland

💎 LOCAL GEMS
We’re so fortunate to have so many Irish pubs here in the Irish Riviera, as well as a delightful little museum chronicling our history. Scituate’s earliest Irish immigrants, who fled the Great Famine in the mid-1800s, harvested the reddish seaweed here to sell for use in toothpaste and ice cream. The Maritime & Irish Mossing Museum on the Driftway is always an informative visit, and a hit with out-of-town guests. Friendly volunteers give enthusiastic tours of the exhibits. Open Sundays 1-4pm.
My mom and I just happened to order The Cheesecake Factory’s Peach Perfect with Raspberry Drizzle cheesecake the first night it returned for spring. Absolutely delicious!!!
📚 STORIES TO SAVOR
As Iran marks Nowruz (Persian New Year) under air strikes, I feel compelled to share Iranian-American poet, translator, and librettist Sholeh Wolpé performing her sonata Keeping Time with Blue Hyacinths: A Nowruz Sonata in 7 Movements at LACMA (the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art). It’s about the haft-sin table adornment tradition to welcome spring by arranging seven special symbols that begin with the Persian letter “S” 🍏 🧄 🌱
This is the first year in probably my entire life that I haven’t watched any of the Oscar-nominated movies before the awards ceremony. Autumn Durald Arkapaw— the first woman to win for Best Cinematography— shared her moment as a tribute to all the women in the room, which felt extra sweet this Women’s History Month. Now I’m even more excited to queue up Sinners, The Secret Agent, F1, Song Sung Blue, Marty Supreme, Sentimental Value, All the Empty Rooms, One Battle After Another, and Blue Moon. (And if you’re ever in LA, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is a magnificent visit.)
Ahhh, there’s still a pep in my step from the South Shore’s weeklong St. Patrick’s Day celebrations filled with live Irish music and step dancing ☘️ 🌈 ✨ Six Irish lads, friends and former step dancing competitors, have become TikTok stars through their dance company Cairde. They fuse traditional Irish dance with a modern look and contemporary music 🕺
