Happy (Almost) New Year!
Dear friends, I hope this holiday season finds you well.
Tonight, I write to you from Nanaimo, British Columbia, on the first day of a new adventure to see the rest of Vancouver Island.
I've enjoyed visiting Victoria many times over the almost 20 years I've lived in the nearby parts of Washington, but I've not seen much of the island beyond the capitol.
Over the next several days, I’ll be “fixing” that – by exploring the rest of the island (or at least as much as I can in the time I have available ...)
Here's the start of the adventure:
Vancouver Island Day 1: Coho Ferry Crossing:
I mentioned in my last message that I was about to embark on a trip to South Carolina but then neglected to send any updates. In case you haven't seen them elsewhere, I shared six posts about South Carolina (including a weekend trip to Savannah, Georgia) here:
South Carolina
Lisa and I are back for a fall work-cation visiting friends in South Carolina.
Normally I'll keep this blog about my travels, but I am excited to share a big event that my team at Adobe hosted earlier this month. On December 7, the Content Authenticity Initiative held a symposium on our work at Stanford University. We were joined by some 200 of the world's leading experts on digital forensics, news media safety, digital identity, and cryptography for a round of presentations and discussions about the timely topics of disinformation and misinformation on the internet. I was honored to be asked to co-lead (with Nathan Freitas of the Guardian Project) a breakout session on the future of digital identity as it pertains to Content Authenticity.
