ReMix Turns 1 🎉 + An Exclusive Microgrant Sneak Peek
Hello Friends,
August was a very special month for ReMix Science & Care.
On August 29, ReMix officially turned ONE! 🎉
We could not have asked for a better first birthday present: after months of planning, building, revising, and figuring out all of the behind-the-scenes pieces, we are putting the finishing touches on our very first microgrant program, made possible in large part by the $15,000 RISE HIGH Grant we received from Neighborhood Allies.
A year ago, ReMix was an idea rooted in a simple belief: talented people should not have to miss opportunities in STEM and healthcare because they cannot afford them or because they do not have the same access, resources, or support as someone else.
One year later, we are preparing to put funding directly into the hands of the students and early professionals we created ReMix to serve.
That feels like a pretty good way to celebrate our first birthday.
Celebrating Our Partners at Neighborhood Allies
This month, we also want to give some extra love to Neighborhood Allies.
Neighborhood Allies works throughout the Pittsburgh region to build healthy, equitable neighborhoods of opportunity by investing in community organizations, strengthening organizational capacity, expanding economic mobility, supporting mental health and well-being, and building impact-driven partnerships. Their work is centered on making sure communities have access to the resources, investment, and tools they need to thrive.
Through the RISE HIGH Grant Partnership Program, Neighborhood Allies intentionally invests in organizations rooted in communities that have historically experienced barriers to capital, networks, resources, and decision-making. The program supports organizations working to expand access and opportunity while strengthening their ability to create long-term impact.
ReMix was incredibly honored to receive a $15,000 RISE HIGH Growth Grant this year.
Their investment is helping us build the infrastructure and launch the programming needed to begin directly addressing financial barriers for aspiring scientists, engineers, health professionals, and other members of our STEM and healthcare community.
Thank you, Neighborhood Allies, for investing not only in ReMix, but in the people we will be able to support because of it.

Microgrant Application | Zite
Zite is the fastest way to build apps with AI and no code.
For this initial launch, applicants must be located in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
However, Pittsburgh is only the beginning! As ReMix grows, we plan to expand the program to additional communities.
And because this is a soft launch, we need your help.
If you know a student or early-career professional who could benefit from this funding, please forward them this email or send them the application link directly.
You may know exactly the person we built this program for!
Help Us Grow Our Community Impact Partners
Launching the microgrant program is a major milestone, but our goal has always been bigger than one grant cycle.
We want to build a sustainable source of support that allows ReMix to fund more students, expand into additional communities, develop mentorship and professional programming, and continue removing barriers in STEM and healthcare.
That is why we are continuing to grow our Community Impact Partner network.
Businesses, organizations, and community partners that contribute $1,000 can become ReMix Founding Community Partners and receive recognition through our website, social media platforms, organizational materials, annual impact reporting, and future ReMix events and student networking opportunities.
You can help even if you are not the person making the contribution.
Do you work for a company that supports local nonprofits?
Know a business owner who cares about education, workforce development, healthcare, STEM, equity, or the Pittsburgh community?
Have a connection to a foundation, professional association, university, healthcare organization, or company that you think should know about ReMix?
Tell us!
Introductions matter, especially for a young organization.
If there is a business, organization, foundation, or individual you think we should reach out to, reply to this email and let us know. Even simply pointing us in the right direction can open a door.
Help Us Reach the Right People
As ReMix enters Year Two, one of our biggest priorities is making sure the people who could benefit from our work actually know we exist.
You can help us do that.
This month, we are asking everyone in our community to think of just one person or organization they can introduce to ReMix.
Maybe it is:
• A student who needs funding
• A young professional trying to pay for an exam, conference, training, or career opportunity
• A professor, advisor, counselor, or mentor who works with students
• A STEM or healthcare organization
• A business interested in supporting the Pittsburgh community
• Someone looking for a meaningful way to mentor or volunteer
• Or simply someone who would believe in what we are building
Forward this newsletter. Share our website. Send someone our microgrant link. Introduce us by email. Share one of our posts.
Grassroots organizations grow through community, and every new connection expands the number of people ReMix may eventually be able to reach.

Thank you for being here early. Thank you for helping us get through Year One. And thank you for helping us begin Year Two with something ReMix was created to do from the very beginning: putting resources directly into the hands of people pursuing their futures in STEM and healthcare.
We cannot wait to see what this next year brings!
With gratitude,
