"Mister Brown and Mochi Jones" out today
Our second single of the year is out today, and I just heard that it was added to Amazon Music’s “Fresh Jazz” playlist, woohoo! “Mister Brown and Mochi Jones,” written by our OG Matt Muehling, has been a crowd favorite for several years and we finally have a proper recording of it. It was damn fun to record, too.
Here’s a link to stream the audio on your choice of platform.
And here’s the full video on YT.
As you might notice in the video, this was the one and only time out of the entire three-day “Chronology” recording session during which the camera in my little sax-keyboard dungeon overheated and died, right at the beginning of my duo-shred-fest with Aki. So, some… creative decisions… were made in terms of video editing. I wasn’t about to let this take go to waste since Aki and I achieved a reasonably advanced level of destruction in honor of two of the best kitties who ever lived.
Matt did indeed write this tune about two cats, neither of whom are with us any longer, and they are dearly missed. This composition as well as a chunk of the album’s artwork (masterfully done by the fabulous Jared Stone) pay tribute to these goodest of boys.
“Chronology” will be released in its entirely this September through our dear friends at La Reserve Records to whom we are so very grateful. And millions of thanks to all of you for listening. More music on the way, spin some Mochi today!
