BERGER
Lead. Male. 21-35
Wild, unpredictable. Big Spirit. A lover with a mission. Enjoys being provocative. Pushing people to the edge. Always with a lesson. Mischievous. A tease. Loyal, a good friend. Sexy. Free. Confident. Leo Vibe. Roaring. Purring. Playing. Pouncing! Athletic and graceful. Magnetic and full of punk swagger. Leader of the group.

DIONNE
Supporting. Female. 21-35
A vivacious and free-thinking African American woman with a strong, joyous presence. She is a core member of the group’s protest activities. Mystical and Mighty! She tells it like it is. The person you go to with your problems to hear both a psychic revelation and a down-to-earth solution. Big laugh. A powerful courageous woman who isn't afraid to be optimistic. Our True Aquarian.

THE TRIBE PERFORMERS
18-70
Ethnicity: Asian, Black / African Descent, Ethnically Ambiguous / Multiracial, Indigenous Peoples, Latino / Hispanic, Middle Eastern, South Asian / Indian, Southeast Asian / Pacific Islander
The Tribe is the heartbeat of 'Hair.' A huge focus in the show and essential to its pulse. These performers will range from fabulous five-star dancers to over-the-top talented vocalists to unique shining actors who dabble in both. The Tribe is a posse of incredible vibrant characters. This intimately communal group must be able to move and harmonize. Wild hippies, ferocious punk rockers, deadheads, disco ravers, psychedelic trippers, speedy moshers, wild colorful butterflies, astrology wizards, yoga dancers, health nuts, glowing tie-dye prancers, fierce warrior stompers and flowing floating fairies. These roles require energy. They do a lot! If you are a stellar dancer but don't sing or an intoxicating singer but not much in terms of dancing: submit! I will cast three-four tribe members who are experts in either dance or song. And seven-eight group players who can both sing and dance well. But everyone needs to be able to act! We will have so much fun bringing these beings to life!

THE TRIBE MUSICIANS
18-80
For this production of 'Hair' the aim is to have the musicians play Galt MacDermot's fabulous score and be on stage as characters in The Tribe! The primary role for this musical team will be to learn the accompaniment by heart (if possible, if not we will finagle a way for them to be on the sidelines with the score, perhaps we can alternate between the two notions). These treasured gifted musicians will take on roles while also providing the essential music and backbone for the show. This is quite a daunting feat, but it is our dream. These talented musicians will create intriguing characters along the way with the entire cast. Just like the Tribe Performers they will become various varied personas. All ages welcome! Also, important that the musicians can harmonize sweetly and are fluid enough to be able to move with the beats and follow minor choreographed steps. Quite an ask I know! If you have even a remote thought of this being possible (and exciting) please submit!"
Famously, there is a nude scene in Hair, but it is not required that you be naked to participate. It is a matter of choice. Do Note: There is a lot of physical contact amidst The Hippie Tribe as befits the time period and subject matter. However, you will not be asked to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. Many references to drug use, sexuality, race and politics are depicted in the play and music. Look over the show's song lyrics before submitting. Much of the material has a tongue-in-cheek humor, meant to provoke the status quo, encouraging awareness and change.
