Dear Friends in Magic,
We hope that you are all still safe and well during this challenging time. To date, we have not heard of any of our members or supporters having fallen victim to the virus and we hope that continues.
Earlier I indicated that the current conditions and future uncertainties led the board to reconsider the timing of this year’s Yankee Gathering. After evaluating the situation and many alternatives, the board has sadly concluded that it would not be prudent at this time for us to ask our attendees to face the risks associated with the travel, lodging and congregating that are part of attending the conference. As a result, we have decided to cancel the conference for this year. We have notified the hotel of our intention to cancel and will be following up with them soon. As stated previously, if you have made travel and/or accommodation reservations, please contact the hotel or airline to see about cancelling your reservations.
Please do not interpret this as an indication that we are cancelling all future Yankee Gatherings. Quite the contrary is true. We are discussing the pros and cons of rescheduling to 2021 versus possibly skipping a conference and looking at 2022. We are also looking at some novel ideas to fill the time until the next conference.
As a club and community, we promise to keep you informed of any future changes and of any future NEMCA events that we will be conducting. Keep checking your email and here on the NEMCA website (www.nemca.com) for further news and announcements.
I thank you for your support and understanding in this matter. This was not an easy decision to make and I hope the next Yankee Gathering will be the biggest and best yet. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at [email protected] or call me at 978-482-5204.
Steve Rogers
