Hi Folks! It’s been a super quick September here, I can’t believe the month is almost gone. Lot’s going on in these parts:

1. Pre-orders of Family Night have started arriving in people’s mailboxes! Including mine; check the unboxing out here!

4. Not too long ago I sat down with Gail Marlene Schwartz (author of Boyhood Reimagined, a Founding Editor of Hotch Potch Literature and Art) and had a lovely chat for Writers in Conversation. You can catch the whole episode here on YouTube!

5. The wildflower forearm tattoo I had done for my birthday this year has some pretty deep literary roots (pun very intended) and I had a fun time blaming some of our sainted literary heroines for the tattoo itself. 6. Guess what! I talked about Family Night and writing some more, this time with Jennifer Martin at The Writer’s Workout.

7. Allison Field Bell’s essays and poetry are amazing, and her debut flash collection, Stitch, is every bit as fantastic. (We’re also having a blast teaching Break the Rules!)

8. I’m also so excited for Claudia Monpere’s collection, The Periodic Family, which I’ve had the privilege of reading an advance reader copy of, and y’all, it’s SO GOOD.

9. The lordship house residency was such a gift, I spent 4 days and 3 nights in community and in thought and reading things I would'n’t have found on my own, and writing on my trusty electric typewriter. I also got to see a beautiful fox, a hummingbird moth, two woodchucks, so many osprey, and a school of dolphins. It’s hard to capture how relaxed I felt in my creativity, because it’s such a rare thing.
