happy may to all. it’s hot and super dry here, it’s rained maybe two times in the last month! i did take advantage of the sunny weather by going outside a ton and spending earth day kayaking on one of my favorite rivers. the heat is persistent but things keep rolling, so please read what you would like and leave the rest.

my short essay “an ode to pine flatwoods” can be read by clicking here. it’s a quick read, and if you love or hate florida, i would love if you took some time to read it.

my little garden is still stuck in pots because i haven’t had much free time, but i still got some produce out of my container plants! cucumbers and carrots included. homegrown cucumbers are actually tasty… in that way, they have a taste instead of just tasting like crunchy water! neither of these were bitter either, which sometimes i get from store bought cucumbers and carrots.

at Everoak farm, we have lots of zucchini and peaches! i probably harvested 200+ pounds of zucchini this last week. since we had so much, we were able to donate a big bin of it to people’s free kitchen here in orlando. thank you to all the food preppers at PFK!

i haven’t been drawing a ton but the other day i had a day off and stopped by a cafe to doodle with some new paint markers. i had fun with it - i had a quick pencil sketch of the face and chose to color it in, and did a quick drawing of the ketchup/catsup that was on someone else’s table. i hope to draw more this month, especially outside and distraction free.
