Mend and Bend Newsletter - January 2022

Hey pals!

Thanks for signing up for my newsletter! I appreciate you taking the time to catch up.

Happy new year! To help bring some joy in the new year, I encourage you to explore making things with your hands and shapes with your body! (How’s that for a segue?)

Mending News

I’ve moved my sewing circle exclusively online. Check out my bi-weekly "Mend-In," 4:00-6:00pm MT on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays. You can pop in anytime within those 2 hours, and you can ask me a couple questions about mending, sit down and stitch with me, or explore some sewing ideas. It's hosted on Zoom, and you can click here for the link. (Passcode: Mend)

I look forward to teaching in-person mending classes in Denver, and I’m currently proposing those to some crafty places around town. If you’d like to join me, look out for future dates in newsletters and my social media.

And I’m still so proud of this little mending zine I created last year. Within its small pages it explains the very basics of hand-stitching ripped, worn, or torn clothes. Send me an email or DM with your mailing address and I'll snail mail you one!

Bending News

It is so beneficial to explore and deepen our body movement practice. By practicing asanas (postures) and deepening our understanding of our bodies’ capabilities, we can better reflect on what’s going on in our heads and our external world. Pandemic anxiety and depression are real. And whatever we’re working through in our lives, I guarantee a little introspection of our physical, mental, and emotional bodies will let us have more full lives.

My current yoga class schedule is:

Tuesdays: Yoga for Scoliosis and Back Care, 4:00-5:30pm MT online and in-studio at Living Yoga Denver. Register through Living Yoga.

Thursdays: Level 1 Yoga, 4:00-5:15pm MT online and in-studio at Living Yoga Denver. Register through Living Yoga.

And I know we’re all tired of the “P” word, but as COVID cases rise, policies change. The studio at Living Yoga is a “fully vaccinated facility,” meaning you must show a teacher your COVID vax card before attending your first in-studio class. And for the time being, masks are mandatory in my classes.

You can stay up to date about my class offerings (or if in-person is canceled due to weather) over on my website. I’m always open to teaching more classes online. If you would like to take classes from me, what would you be interested in learning? Go ahead and send me an email.

On top of my public group classes, I offer in-person and online private yoga sessions where we can work together one-on-one. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact me.

Other News

I’ve been allured to TikTok. I know it’s not for everyone, but I find it fun, informative, and entertaining. Instagram is becoming flooded with inescapable ads, and I wanted to try something new. If you’re on TikTok, give me a follow for calming mending videos and helpful yoga pose tutorials.

I’ve started offering gift certificates which can be applied to mending and yoga classes. More info about that over on mendbend.com.

Thanks for sticking around, and I hope you are well.
