Mend and Bend Newsletter - August 2024

Hello, friend! Thanks for taking a quick gander at my [somewhat inconsistent] newsletter!
Mending News
MENDING CLUB!
After a little summer break, the Mending Meetup is restarting this September 11th, & every 2nd Wednesday, at 6 pm at Edgewater Public Market in their food hall. My co-host Leah from Round Trip Goods and I will snag a big table for the event. Bring a clothing item that needs mending or a patch you've been meaning to sew and craft alongside other friendly folks! Food and drink options are a-plenty at the market. Class is free and come and go as you like, but BYO supplies is advisable.

Sneak peek: I am nailing down the date and location for my next workshop: Couching Stitch Class! Students will each be creating a banner/patch/embellishment with the couching stitch. The technique is so simple once you get the hang of it. Look for an announcement soon via social media.

Other News & Musings
I love the process of fermenting, and I just started a fresh batch of Fermented Hot Sauce. Along with farmer’s market fresnos, jalapenos, and onions, I sneaked in a couple fresnos, sugar rush peach peppers, and shallots from my own garden.

In July I attempted my first 14er, Mt. Bierstadt. It was gorgeous and difficult and lovely. I so wanted to summit, but I listened to my body and had to turn around at 12,650’. The trail started at 11,500’, and damn - that’s over 1,000’ of elevation gain at altitude! Not bad for a first go. Since then, I’ve started swimming a few times a week to work on my cardio and lung capacity, and I’m excited to attempt the mountain again before the end of the year.

The Sawtooth & Mt. Bierstadt from the creek crossing August is my birthday month, and I had so much fun celebrating with my closest people. Casa Bonita with the besties and Pikes Peak (NOT HIKING, haha) with my dad.

Casa Bonita - the food is actually good, now!

Thanks for sticking around, and I hope you are well.
