🥏 Tryout decision
Thank you to everyone who tried out! It was really encouraging to see so many interested kids.
Coaches met this weekend to work through team sizes and figure out how to make the groups manageable given the amount of practice space and time we have as well as our coaching resources. Turning kids away is genuinely hard, and we don't take it lightly.

❓ Not on the list?
If your player's name isn't listed above, they were unfortunately not selected to continue with Madison this fall season. We'd love to see them back in the spring. Spring has traditionally served as a great training ground for players. Some of our best 8th graders now are players who joined in spring after not getting to play in the fall.
In the meantime, here are some other ways to keep playing this fall:
- DiscNW Eastside Fall Clinics (Sundays)
- DiscNW Fall MS Non-SPS Mixed Hat League (register by September 16)
- WSUFF pickup (all ages, Sunday mornings at High Point at 10am)
You're welcome to stay on our newsletter and WhatsApp and join any Madison family pickup games, whether or not your player is on the roster this fall.
📬 About the newsletter
All players/families on the current fall 2026 roster have been tagged in our newsletter and will keep getting regular season updates (usually one per week). If your player isn't on the roster, you'll stay subscribed at a lighter tier: important program-wide announcements only (like the spring season announcement that will go out in 2027). You can opt in to more, including pickup game notices, or manage your subscription anytime.
🔍 A note for roster players: teams aren't set yet
We'll continue evaluating over the next week as we finalize teams for our first game 9/26. We are fortunate to have enough coaches for three game-day teams plus a small practice squad (players who practice with us but aren't in game rotations). Team assignments aren't set yet, and they won't be fixed once they are: players who aren't showing up or aren't modeling our team values may be swapped out for others.
🎯 On attendance
One thing that came up clearly this weekend is that we need to prioritize committed players. That doesn't mean no other sports or activities, but if you already know your player will be missing a significant number of practices or games (for example, a select soccer team with scheduling priority), please let us know. We turned away players who wanted this to be their primary sport, so we want to be thoughtful about who has a roster spot. (https://madisonultimate.org/ will have a way for families to mark planned attendance soon.)
Thank you again for your patience through this process, and congratulations to everyone moving forward. We’ll send a separate update today to rostered families about the plan for this week.
Please email [email protected] with any questions.
Thank you,
Madison Coaches
