September 2026 Update
September at Lunar Prototypes will focus on practical problem solving, including new 3D printable utility designs, software tools, and projects combining 3D printing with electronics and smart devices.
This month’s update covers what is coming next, several new customizable text designs, and improvements to the customizer platform.
Coming in September
Several simple customizable utility designs are planned, including shims, washers, spacers, brackets, and other useful components intended to expand the Lunar Prototypes toolbox.
Work will also continue on software tools such as LP Release Manager, along with more complex projects that combine 3D printing, electronics, and smart-device integration.
New in August
Custom Text Plate and its Multicolor version create customizable signs and labels without requiring CAD.
Custom Magnetic Plate and its Multicolor version use embedded magnets for reusable labels on refrigerators, cabinets, toolboxes, and other magnetic surfaces.
Custom Text Tag and its Multicolor version use an embedded flexible TPU strap for attaching customizable labels to bags, cases, tools, and equipment.
A customizable Air Pump Hose Gasket was also released for replacing worn or unavailable flexible seals.
Platform Update
The customizer worker was updated with a new polling method that reduced polling calls by approximately 93% while allowing jobs to be picked up more efficiently.
Lunar Prototypes has now processed more than 1,800 customizations. Additional backend work is planned as the customizer begins transitioning toward the Fusion 360 Automation API.
LP Release Manager is also now in beta. The tool helps 3D printing creators organize and export model files, group related parts, generate paste-ready model pages for multiple platforms, and package releases with less repetitive work.
