October 2026 Update

September at Lunar Prototypes was focused almost entirely on rebuilding the customizer platform. No new designs were released, but several major changes were completed behind the scenes.

This month’s update covers the move to cloud-based generation, new customizer features, and what is coming next.

Platform Update

Lunar Prototypes has completed the transition from a desktop-based Fusion 360 worker to Autodesk cloud automation. Customization jobs are now processed independently of a local workstation, improving reliability and reducing turnaround time.

The customizer has now processed more than 2,000 jobs.

Completed results can also be retained for up to 30 days and downloaded again through the Dashboard without rerunning the customization. Users can send completed job links to their account email, and previously generated results can be reused when the same customization already exists.

Payments & Safeguards

Because cloud-based generation introduces a per-job compute cost, Lunar Prototypes is preparing to introduce Stripe payments for additional customization jobs.

The current plan provides 3 free customizations, followed by optional packs of 5 additional jobs for $5, tax included. Paid credits will expire after 6 months.

The payment and job-processing systems have also been built with safeguards intended to prevent duplicate charges, preserve credits when jobs fail, reuse existing results when possible, and limit unexpected cloud-compute costs.

Coming in October

October will focus on final platform polish, continued refinement of existing brackets and adapters, and a return to new customizable designs.

Cable-management designs are currently being explored, along with additional practical utility parts that benefit from customizable dimensions.
