Vote YES in Tomorrow's Election, The Power of Participation, and Lexpress

Friends of Kunal Botla for Lexington

Dear Friends,

Tuesday’s special election is almost here, and I’m asking you to vote YES—so we can continue making fiscally responsible decisions for Lexington.
Read my previous email about this ballot question.

After many conversations and following the online discourse, I worry we’ve lost sight of what this election is really about: our priorities as a community.

The question on the ballot is whether we want to modernize our 1920s-era trash bylaw to give the elected Select Board the flexibility to manage the rising cost of trash disposal. If we don’t act, those cost increases could force cuts to other town services—as we saw happen with the schools and municipal services this year.

Watch the Select Board’s 6/8 discussion here (starts around minute 31).

Town Meeting debated the merits of giving the Select Board the power to set regulation and a 70% majority supported the effort.

This isn’t a radical step. Our neighbors in Arlington and Belmont have already adopted similar systems successfully. The town is actively surveying residents and engaging the community to set details that work for Lexington.

A few other things on my radar:

On June 18th from 7–8:45pm, I will be joining Cameron Hickey, Representative Michelle Ciccolo, Sara Sheikh, and J. Kim Vandiver for Lexington Lyceum’s Lyceum Conversation: The Power of Participation. Find details and tickets here.

Lexpress route changes take effect July 6th. See if changes impact your route at lexingtonma.gov. 2026–27 Limitless passes are for sale now; renew your pass before July 1st!

Thank you for staying engaged—and please vote YES on Tuesday!
