Opening Night

A pitchfork in bias tape, aliens at the movies, and a contract I finally signed.

Process on my Vintage Devil’s Costume

It's time to lock in on Halloween costumes, and this is exactly why I start months ahead. I'd rather enjoy the process leisurely than rush everything at the last minute. The most tedious part of my Vintage Devil costume was positioning all of the bias tape into a pitchfork shape. The curves on the tines were especially difficult, and I worked through them while watching The Devil Wears Prada 2 and a documentary about Lilith Fair. The movie was meh. The only time I really looked up was to see what clothing they used, and otherwise I could have done without it. The Lilith Fair documentary was so interesting. I grew up hearing about it in the media, along with all the backlash, so getting an insider view was compelling. Erykah Badu has simply never not been amazing and inspiring, one of the few people in this world who always has my artistic respect. I had no idea Missy Elliott was there, and I'd assumed Sarah McLachlan and her team were just a part of it when they were the ones who actually started it. It was a very interesting piece of 90s music history.

Lord Garmadon Helmet Piece to the Left - Otis trying my devil mask on.

Otis wanted to try on the devil mask, so of course I let him. I got a mirror photo of the two of us out of it, with the robe hanging behind us. The Garmadon helmet is coming along too. I made progress on the attachment for the Darth Vader helmet and prepped it for papier-mâché. I'm hoping to get to that this week so I can finally paint it.

Some Snaps from a Martha Stewart Book I checked out of the library.

I've also been deep in Martha Stewart inspiration sourcing for the season. My little guy is finally old enough that we can do slightly more involved art and craft projects, and this is his favorite season. He is one spooky baby.
