This weekend in Greenwich: the Saturday Farmers Market, birding at the Bruce, and sun prints for the kids

Morning, Greenwich. Another unhurried weekend, which this town has never confused with a dull one. The Farmers Market runs Saturday on Arch Street, the Audubon set takes the field at the Bruce, and Sunday offers the quiet pleasure of watching a seven-year-old discover that sunlight can make art.

Best for families this weekend: Science Solvers: Sun Prints at the Bruce Museum on Sunday, a hands-on session that sends younger kids home with something they made out of nothing but paper and a clear afternoon.

Saturday, June 27

Greenwich Farmers Market, Commuter Parking Lot at Arch Street and Horseneck Lane (downtown), 9:30 AM to 1 PM. Summer at full tilt: produce, flowers, and the standing ritual of greeting half the town before you reach the stone fruit. All ages, free to browse.

Birding at the Bruce Museum with Greenwich Audubon. A guided early walk through the museum grounds with the people who actually know which bird is making that sound. The kind of morning Greenwich has been doing well for a long time. All ages, details at the Bruce.

In Case You Missed It

A Greenwich estate is on the market for $7.9 million. Even by local standards it is a number worth a second look, and a reminder of who is quietly buying and selling along the back roads this summer. Source: Patch Greenwich.

The first selectman weighed in on a viral supermarket video. Fred Camillo addressed the footage of a confrontation that spread online, the rare moment when the town's affairs play out somewhere other than a meeting room. Source: Greenwich Time.

Benedict Court is moving forward. A hardhat tour walked through the six-story building set to rise with 40% of its units as affordable rentals, a meaningful piece of housing in a town where the topic is rarely simple. Source: Greenwich Free Press.

Sunday, June 28

Science Solvers: Sun Prints at the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive (downtown). Younger scientists use the sun to make cyanotype prints, the sort of low-tech magic that holds a kid's attention better than any screen. Kids welcome, Bruce Museum.

The Joy of Deep Sleep Meditation with Joy Hoffman at Beyond Yoga, Greenwich Avenue (downtown). A guided session for the reader whose to-do list follows them to bed. Adults, Eventbrite.

Beach Report

Tod's Point holds its A+ for water quality, and the long days are exactly what the pass-and-permit system was built for. Byram remains the weaker of the two on stormwater. Head to the Point.

On the Horizon

The Second Annual Pat Bria Charity Golf Tournament tees off Monday, June 29, at the Griffith E. Harris course. A full field for a good cause, and a reminder that the Griff remains the town's most democratic patch of fairway. Details.

America's 250th is starting to fill the town calendar. Your Plate Squared at the museum and a July 2 fireworks display lead a week of programming around the semiquincentennial. We will carry the Greenwich picks as they confirm.
