This weekend in Greenwich: the Saturday Farmers Market, French film at the Bruce, robotics at the J House
Morning, Greenwich. A quiet weekend, which in this town is not a complaint. The Farmers Market opens Saturday on Arch Street, the Bruce screens a French film on Sunday, and Father's Day arrives without anyone feeling the need to make a production of it.
Best for families this weekend: Snapology Space Wars Robotics at the J House on Saturday morning and Art Adventures: Your Plate Squared at the Bruce Museum on Sunday. Both built for younger kids, both worth the trip.
Saturday, June 20
Greenwich Farmers Market, Commuter Parking Lot at Arch Street and Horseneck Lane (downtown), 9:30 AM to 1 PM. The Saturday standby is in full summer swing, produce, flowers, and the usual ritual of running into three people you know before you reach the tomatoes. All ages, free to browse.

Snapology Space Wars Robotics at The J House, 1114 East Putnam Avenue (Riverside). A morning STEAM session building with LEGO bricks and robotics, the kind of thing that keeps a seven-year-old occupied and quietly learning. Kids welcome.
Solemate Run Club at Beyond Yoga on Greenwich Avenue (downtown). A group run starting from the Avenue retail store, with a giveaway for one lucky runner afterward. All levels, adults.
In Case You Missed It
The Board of Education voted 5 to 3 for a bell-to-bell phone ban at Greenwich High School. The board directed Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones to proceed with the policy, which bars phone use from the morning entry bell to dismissal starting in the 2026 to 2027 school year. Dr. Michael-Joseph Mercanti-Anthony, Veronica Chiavaroli, Bob Chaney, Sophie Koven, and Karen Krause voted yes; Karen Hirsh, Paul Cappiali, and Wendy Vizzo-Walsh voted no. The Garden Conservancy is moving its headquarters to Greenwich. The national nonprofit, which works to preserve and share exceptional American gardens, is relocating its home base to town. A fitting address for an organization in the business of gardens. Source: Greenwich Time.
A major redevelopment may be coming to a prominent Greenwich Avenue location. Planning and Zoning documents lay out a proposal for one of the Avenue's higher-profile addresses. Nothing is decided, but the Avenue rarely changes quietly, and this one is worth watching. Source: Patch Greenwich.
Sunday, June 21 (Father's Day)
Cinema at the Bruce and Focus on French Film present: Colours of Time at the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive (downtown). A Sunday screening for the reader who would rather spend Father's Day in a dark room with subtitles than at a barbecue, and there are more of you than you admit. Check the Bruce calendar for showtime. Adults.
Art Adventures: Your Plate Squared at the Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Drive (downtown). A hands-on art session for younger children, running alongside the museum's "Lifetime of Looking" programming. Kids welcome, free with admission.
Beach Report
Tod's Point holds its A+ for water quality. Byram stays at D+ on stormwater runoff. The pass-and-permit rules still apply at the gate. Head to the Point.
On the Horizon
Swim Across America's Fairfield County open water swim is Saturday at Dolphin Cove, just over the Stamford line, benefiting the Stamford-based Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy. A number of Greenwich swimmers turn out every year; spectators welcome along the shore.
Independence Day is two weeks out, and the town calendar will fill quickly. We will carry the Greenwich picks as they confirm.
