Elmo's Got the Moves handles the under-10 crowd. Four acts across two stages, the whole town in one park, and the proceeds go to local nonprofits. Beach Season Opens Saturday
Greenwich Point and Byram Park beaches open Saturday for the season, running through September 7. Byram pool opens tomorrow. Island Beach and the Great Captain Island ferry start June 13.
Save the Sound released annual beach grades this week. Seventy-seven percent of 192 sampled Long Island Sound beaches earned A or B grades. Greenwich's results:
- Tod's Point: A+
- Great Captain Island: A+
- Island Beach: A
- Byram Beach: D+
Byram's grade is a stormwater issue. After a third of an inch of rain, the town closes the beach for a full day. Island Beach and Great Captain Island are not affected the same way. If you're planning around weather, head to the Point or take the ferry.
Beach passes and single-entry tickets are available through the Parks and Recreation office. New to town: bring proof of residency. Beach closure updates: 203-622-7855.
