This week in Greenwich: Concours turns 30, speed cameras live, Concert on the Lawn

Good morning, Greenwich.

June starts today, and this past weekend was the send-off May deserved. The Concours d'Elegance returned to Roger Sherman Baldwin Park for its 30th year, Greenwich Crew swept the Northeast Regionals, and Connecticut quietly activated its first highway speed cameras yesterday. Ahead this week: a children's book launch at Audubon, a Saffredi master class at Zachys, and a benefit concert on the Woman's Club lawn Thursday evening.

Here's what's in this week's Pulse:

  • The Concours celebrates three decades on the waterfront
  • CT speed cameras go live as Greenwich's own debate continues
  • Greenwich Crew dominates regionals with 864 points
  • A thriller begins filming in town
  • Train station elevator still waiting on inspection

Best for families this week: Dr. Dale Atkins reads from her new nature book at Audubon Greenwich, and Art in the Park fills Binney Park on Sunday.

Beach report: Tod's Point holds its A+ grade from Save the Sound. Byram stays at D+ (stormwater runoff). Head to the Point.

The Week in Greenwich

See the 'rare' cars headed to the Greenwich Concours this weekend

The Greenwich Concours d'Elegance celebrated its 30th anniversary at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park this past weekend. Driven by Hagerty, the show has grown into one of the Northeast's premier automotive gatherings. Greenwich Time previewed the historically significant and rare cars on display, from prewar European touring cars to American muscle. Three decades on the same waterfront lawn, and the format holds because it never needed improving. (Via Greenwich Time)

Greenwich Crew Dominate Northeast Regional Championships

Three CT highway speed cameras to be activated June 1

Connecticut's first highway work zone speed cameras went live yesterday, including cameras in West Haven and Colchester. Greenwich's own speed camera debate continues on a separate track: the school-zone camera program remains suspended, and former RTM member Peter Fassuliotis argued last week that "Greenwich does not need a surveillance state to teach people how to drive." The RTM vote is scheduled for June 8. (Via Greenwich Time, Greenwich Free Press)

'Frustrating' wait for inspection stalls use of Greenwich train station elevator

The new elevator at the Greenwich Metro-North station remains out of service, held up by an inspection backlog. Both Greenwich Time and Patch reported on the frustration. (Via Greenwich Time)
