Yes, Edmundo and I have already gotten the ball rolling on this process. I can't estimate a date right now, since PT1 needs a bit more adjustment gameplay- and content-wise to be ready for console. But yes, we are working on it.

Do I need to play the games in order?

PT2 was designed to be accessible as a standalone game, and if you're new to the adventure genre, it is an easier starting point. Although the two games together paint a rich picture of Mara's adolescence, it is not necessary to play them in order.
