Software Updates — Week of May 26, 2026
I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day! In addition to the features below we've updating our underlying framework, which is general computer-talk to mean that we should see improved performance and security with this release as well.
Also, Episode 9 of Mighty Municipalities is released for your listening pleasure! Mark and I talk about strategies to combat food insecurity in a small town and interview Tim Dargan from the Town of Lamar about their good giveaway program.
Here's what's new this week in GovPossible:
Inspections: Request Emails Now Include Applicant Comments
When residents submit an online inspection request through the portal, they often include important notes — special access instructions, scheduling preferences, or details about the work completed. Previously, the email notification sent to staff only showed the requestor's name, inspection type, address, and submission time, requiring staff to log into the system separately to read any comments the applicant included.

Now, the staff notification email includes all comments submitted by the applicant directly in the message.
Permitting: Repeatable Field Groupings
We're excited to introduce a new capability for your online permit and application forms: repeatable field groups. Some applications require collecting the same set of information multiple times — for example, a tree removal permit might need details about each individual tree being removed, including a photo, species, diameter, and height, or a commercial property may need to collect information for each sign being installed. Previously, forms could only capture a fixed number of entries, which meant extra work for both applicants and staff.

Now, when building your application forms, we can designate a group of fields as repeatable. Applicants simply click a button to add another entry — whether that's another tree on a removal permit, another vehicle on a parking application, or another contractor on a building permit. Each entry collects the same information in a clean, organized layout that's easy to fill out and easy for your staff to review.

This update gives your department much more flexibility in how you design application forms, without any extra steps for your residents. Applicants get a straightforward experience — add as many entries as they need, remove any mistakes, and submit everything in one go. On the staff side, all the information comes through organized and ready for review, reducing back-and-forth and speeding up processing times.

Finance: Improved Bank Reconciliations Header Information

While they may never match exactly, it's nice to see how closely aligned your month-to-month balances are between the bank and your GL account. We've added the GL Account balance information to the reconciliation area and improved the overall formatting to make it easier to see how you're tracking while reconciling.
