License & Tax: AI-Powered NAICS Search

Defining the business by NAICS is crucial to many of you for your business license program. We’ve included the ability to search for NAICS codes within the program since the very beginning. In general, it’s search against the NAICS description and worked pretty well:

…but other times, you’d get no results had to poke around for the right words:

This is something that today’s AI can do really well: take a set of words and figure out which best matches the description, even if it doesn’t match word-for-word:

and unlike a text search, it works even better with more context:

While it’s not perfect, sometimes it can be almost magical:

…and it’s a good improvement over text-search alone. Try it out and let us know what you think!
