Over the past several months, the DEF CON Groups department has been working to improve the accuracy and reliability of the DEF CON Groups public directory, forum listings, and internal operational records.

During recent outreach efforts, it became apparent that a significant amount of existing group information is outdated, incomplete, or no longer functional. In many cases, contact emails are bouncing, social links are dead, meeting locations are missing, or groups are still marked active despite no recent activity or reachable points of contact.

To address this, we have launched an updated DEF CON Groups Directory & Meeting Information Form for both existing and new groups.

All currently active and verified DEF CON Groups that wish to:

• Remain listed as Active

• Continue appearing on the DEF CON Groups website and forums

• Receive future department communications

• Maintain accurate public-facing information

must complete the updated form no later than:

August 1, 2026

The updated form helps us:

• Verify active groups

• Improve global group discovery

• Standardize naming and numbering conventions

• Update meeting cadence and location information

• Improve continuity when POCs rotate or disappear

• Reduce outdated or abandoned listings

This is not an identity verification process and we are not requesting any form of identification.

We are primarily looking to confirm:

• That your group is still active

• That at least one POC is reachable

• That your public-facing information is reasonably accurate

New groups may also use this form to apply for inclusion in the DEF CON Groups global network.

We appreciate everyone helping us modernize and stabilize the DEF CON Groups ecosystem as the community continues to grow globally.
