DEF CON Singapore just wrapped, and the momentum is real.
Coming off our first-ever Southeast Asia event, the focus now shifts to DEF CON 34 in Las Vegas. The sticker contest is open, planning for the DCG community space is moving fast, and we have a lot to build on after what we saw in Singapore.
If you’ve been waiting to get involved, this is the moment.
DEF CON Singapore (DC SG1) - A Successful First
DEF CON Singapore at Marina Bay Sands exceeded expectations. As the first DEF CON event in Southeast Asia, DC SG1 brought together a thriving local hacker community alongside attendees who traveled from as far as Canada and Australia to be part of it.
For DEF CON Groups specifically, the event was a major win. We connected with a significant number of potential point of contacts interested in starting new groups across the region, and we had valuable face-to-face conversations with existing international point of contacts who don’t always get the chance to engage with DEF CON in person. Those conversations alone made the trip worthwhile.
The energy in Singapore reinforced what we already suspected: the appetite for DEF CON culture in the region is strong, and the community is ready to grow. We are very optimistic about the future of DC SG and what it means for the global DCG ecosystem.
If you met someone in Singapore who is interested in starting a group, or if you are interested yourself, point them to https://defcongroups.org or [email protected]. We are actively supporting new group creation coming out of this event.
DEF CON Groups Sticker Contest — Now Open
The DEF CON Groups Sticker Contest for DEF CON 34 is open and accepting submissions. This is a community-driven effort to showcase DEF CON Groups through original artwork that reflects hacking culture, DEF CON, and your local identity.
Selected designs will be printed and distributed at DEF CON 34. Submissions must be original, human-created work. AI-generated art will not be accepted, and all designs must follow DEF CON branding guidelines and align with the Code of Conduct.
If your group exists, it should be represented.

DEF CON 34 — DCG Community Space
Planning for DEF CON 34 in Las Vegas (August 6–9) is actively underway, and DEF CON Groups will have a more structured and visible presence this year.
We are building out a dedicated community space designed for participation rather than passive meetups. This includes room for group gatherings, workshops led by point of contacts, and interactive community activity throughout the conference.
Two DCG-focused contests will anchor part of this space. The sticker contest will culminate in attendee voting taking place at the conference, while a bracket-style Backdoors & Breaches tournament will introduce a structured, competitive element to the programming.
Additional details on the tournament will be shared soon.
We are also finalizing DCGCC volunteer planning with a more structured approach to shifts and coverage to support our space and the broader DCG Community.
What to Focus on This Month
The expectation is simple. Submit to the sticker contest if you haven’t already, engage with your local group, and start preparing for DEF CON 34. For those who attended DC SG1, keep the momentum going by helping connect new organizers in your region to the program.
This community only works when people actively contribute to it.
More updates will follow as we continue building toward DEF CON 34.
