Postkort fra 2040: We Stopped Checking the Light

04:41. Vitus on the left arm, Alva asleep, fog sitting on the harbour like it pays rent.
The bassinet subscription lapsed. Not dramatically — a mail, a renewal price, Mikkel and I looking at each other over it for maybe four seconds. So the sleep-coaching is off now and the light on the side has gone from that confident blue down to nothing. It just rocks. That is all it does. Honestly, Sofie: it was always just rocking. The rest was a graph telling me what I already knew from holding her.
I thought I would feel robbed. I do not. I feel like someone put down a bag I had been carrying up the stairs for eight months.
New thing though. Vitus has started looking at the corner of the room when the building air system changes pitch. Not up, not at me. At the corner. He has found something in this flat that I cannot hear and never will, and by the time he can tell me about it he will have stopped noticing it.
That is the whole job, I think. Standing next to someone in a room you cannot quite enter.
