Postkort fra 2039: They Tried to Optimise My Book Club

They Tried to Optimise My Book Club

Kære Kasper,

Well. They have decided my reading group is inefficient.

A young man from the library came Tuesday with a tablet and that voice they use on old people, and explained that the branch assistant could summarise our book beforehand, generate discussion questions, match us by "engagement profile"... he said engagement profile to my face, Kasper. Seven of us. We have read together since before you were born.

I said no thank you. He said it was already switched on. So I stood up and read chapter four out loud, the whole thing, badly, and Gurli cried in the wrong place as she always does, and the screen sat there behind us being helpful at nobody.

It has been so hot here. The misters in the courtyard run all afternoon and everything smells of wet concrete and lindens. Preben would have hated the misters. He hated anything that made a noise for your own good.

Anyway. Fru Holm brought kringle. We got through nineteen pages in two hours. Terrible engagement profile.

Come home before autumn. I'll save you a chair, and nobody will ask what you thought in a structured format.

Din farmor, Birthe
