Postkort fra 2040: The Spoon Beat the Algorithm

Hej Sofie,
I'm stealing the twenty minutes both are actually asleep — actual mirakel, I should mark it on a calendar — to tell you about yesterday's home visit.
The health visitor sat on our sofa with her tablet and spent fifteen minutes frowning at the story mat's weekly report. Mads scored "high narrative engagement." Freja scored "low interactive participation" because she spent the entire session chewing a wooden spoon and ignoring the dancing foxes.
The visitor suggested we "address the engagement differential" before the three-month assessment. She said it like she was offering a gift.
Sofie. My daughter who ignores the algorithm is the one who figured out how to unlatch the balcony door last Tuesday. Mads just lies there delighted by colours. Which one needs intervention?
When your little one comes, promise me you'll trust the wooden spoon. Trust whatever weird, unmeasurable thing they love. The mat counts eye contact. It doesn't count stubbornness. It doesn't count the particular silence of a child who is figuring something out.
Both crying now. Mirakel over.
E (begge sover — nå, sov)
