greetings

i kinda can’t believe i’m reporting from the end of june, but here we are! it’s been a full month, but a very sweet one for me; lots of enjoying the garden, hanging out with very lovely people, and making art for fun.

as a little side project, i’ve been adding free printable zine PDFs to a kofi page. my hope is to eventually get all my freebies up there.

seattle zine fest - sunday july 26th at quality flea center! all ages, high quality masks required, no AI art allowed <3

olympia porch fest - monday sept 7th at roosevelt elementary, all ages. i will have lots of non-zine goodies here.

report back from PRFM!

it was very good except for being 90 degrees! orca books folks were awesome to work with! i chatted with so many sweet vendors, and brought home an amazing haul. evergreen resistance / always free sharing market folks came in clutch with a sunscreen dispenser for us. other folks supplied ice and otter pops, and EGYHOP was there with water. we distributed over a hundred masks, and not everyone threw them in the trash immediately after browsing :’-) lol. if you wanna stay in the loop about future PRFMs, sign up for our email list!

garden report

i think i wanna make a summer garden report legal sheet mini zine! we’ll see. that’s my july project maybe. the garden is gorgeous right now, the nasturtium, scarlet runner beans and purple poppies are the stars of the show.

my dahlias have buds, strawberries & garlic scapes have come and gone, raspberries are ripe and blueberries are getting there. violet and i have found a record number of crab spiders hiding on flowers. kyle and i have been toiling in this garden for 8 years and this year is the first year i think i’ve been able to fully enjoy it without looking around and seeing work to be done.

i’m going through a lil crisis of identity right now, having decided to organize less events and stop going to gigs this year, so the garden is basically my personality right now.

some TV

i, like many others, recently watched widow’s bay and thoroughly enjoyed it. seeing jeff hiller in that reminded me that i never did watch the 3rd season of somebody somewhere, so i went and did that. and oh boy was it wild to see the theme of my current work in therapy so succinctly reflected back at me via sam’s romantic subplot. what a beautiful show. why is receiving affection so scary?? lol.

• there is so much love in my life right now! feeling extremely blessed to get to know and enjoy so many incredibly sweet people.

• really proud of myself for doing a lot of work around workaholic burnout stuff and people pleasing this year. it’s been 6 months of letting go of things that i’ve tethered my identity to. and i’m feeling very tender but ultimately so grateful i decided to get real about my capacity. i took a lot of stuff off my plate and instead of picking it back up or piling new things on, i’ve been resting. i’ve been paying attention to how things make me feel, instead of doing things out of a sense of duty, or because i’ve always done them, or they used to make me feel good but haven’t in a long time. and in doing less, i’ve felt more creative, less stressed, and left with more energy to pour into my relationships. so yay for growth edges, grieving and moving on, and creating space for new things to be excited about.
