greetings
hello from my cozy bed! my focus this month has been on rest and recovery. april kicked the shit outta me. it’s amazing how much rest i need when i’m actually listening to my body :’-) that said, it’s still been a bit of a rollercoaster month (emotionally speaking). i’ve suddenly regained the ability to cry, so i’ve been doing that as i navigate various little overwhelms and disappointments. it’s kinda jarring because i haven’t cried much since starting T, but it’s a thing i used to do a lot!
speaking of crying, i realized we’re almost 6 months into the year and i haven’t attended any gigs yet. it’s a weird little grief for me, since live music has been a huge part of my life since i was a teenager. this year i’m letting go of a lot of things i once tethered my identity to. it’s uh, a lot to process!
anyway, i’m excited for zine fest (and a little preemptively exhausted too lol) and the punk rock flea market!! please do say hello if you see me out in the world. i’m hoping june is straightforwardly a Good month, with lots of rest in between fun and rewarding activities (and no weird and concerning body stuff).
upcoming

May 30th: Olympia Zine Fest, 11-4 at The Olympia Center (free, all ages, masks required).
June 14th: Oly Punk Rock Flea Market, 12-4PM downtown in the parking lot between Orca Books Co-op & Rainy Day Records (free, outdoor, all ages, masks provided). i’ll have greeting cards, zines, stickers, pins, maybe clothes/shoes.
fingers crossed for an acceptance to Seattle Zine Fest 7/26/26!
June Covid Safer Events include: Absolutely Free Sharing Mini-Mart, Intro to Risograph Printing (registration required), Prisoner Letter Writing, Fiber Arts Meetup, Gender Benders Support Group (18+), Queer Figure Drawing (18+) & more! check the full calendar at covidsaferoly.com
zine news
i finished two zines this month! they’ll be making their debut at olympia zine fest, then patrons will receive them, and then finally they’ll head to my shop for the general public :^)
biz news?
i’ve decided to start offering cheap printing services, since the library recently decreased the amount of free prints they offer.

garden report

thanks to kyle and clover, there is now a greenhouse in the garden!
scarlet runner beans and snap peas have reached the trellis and are hanging on to various degrees! my sad tomato starts are now sheltering in the greenhouse. the red raspberry is exploding! the black cap raspberry appears to be taking a breather this year, but thimbleberry is blooming and the blueberry bush is setting fruit. strawberries are doing their thing too. jasmine, sweet william and yarrow are about to bloom.
in bloom: foxglove, rhododendron, broadleaf lupine, california poppy, chives, alliums, thyme, comfry, love in a mist, chamomile, calendula, snapdragon, irises have come and gone.
some photos
usually my ‘some photos’ are non-flower photos but i didn’t take photos of much else this month, so these are just flowers that aren’t from my garden lol.

some songs
i got on a magnetic fields kick this month, mostly 69 love songs vol 1. much nostalgia, too many favorites to list.
on my first listen through pope’s new album this song jumped out and grabbed me. very elliott smith influence guitar riff in here. i’m glad this band decided to reunite! i’ve been fixated on this album for a week.
i also got my providence popfest tape in the mail recently from musical fanzine records, and that was a treat!
one last thing

seventh’s friends are still trying to raise funds for her end of life expenses, to support her roommate, and fly folks in for the memorial. if you can spare some funds or share the fundraiser, it would mean a lot.
