greetings
tired and in pain at the moment, reporting for newsletter! this month has been non-stop for me, and i’m glad it’s over. i went to the coast, the peninsula, the skagit valley tulip festival (and anacortes and bellingham by extension). it was a great time, and now i’ll spend the next couple weeks recouping. i’m left with many pictures, and the unfortunate reminder that i feel way more disabled when i leave my carefully crafted routines. i’m glad i got to hang out with so many chickens though! feeling a lil better today than i have been this last week (thank god, haven’t had a flare so bad in a while).

zine news
i am now sitting on 4 partly finished zines- snail mail tips & tricks, 2 years on T, how to use a CO2 monitor to gauge covid risk, and small affirmations #2. will one be done in time for olympia zine fest? you’ll have to attend to find out!
i’m excited to announce that some of my zines will be available in seattle at paper pushers zine store! do you know of a cool store i should hit up about consignment or wholesale?
upcoming events
hopefully adding seattle zine fest in july and portland zine symposium in october to this list (if i get in, fingers crossed). i’m curious, dear reader, are there any other zine fests or markets nearby i should apply to?
May 30th: Olympia Zine Fest, 11-4 at The Olympia Center (free, all ages, masks required).
June 14th: Oly Punk Rock Flea Market, 12-4 at Orca Books Co-op parking lot (free, outdoor, all ages, masks required).
September 7th: Olympia Porch Fest pop-up market, 12-7 at Roosevelt Elementary (free, all ages).
i’ve been really slacking on the promotion lately, but i have been continually adding to the events calendar at covidsaferoly.com !
olympia zine fest
i’m still looking for some more volunteers to hand out masks! reply if interested! i have 2hr shifts planned out, and i made a signal group for coordination purposes. you can have free goodies from my table as a thank you <3
oly punk rock flea market
there’s still time to apply! it’s free, apps close may 2nd. we love orca books! we’re very excited to try out the parking lot as a venue; i hope you’ll be patient with clover and me as we dial it in. if you wanna help hand out masks or flyer around (or do anything else helpful!), hit me up!
i’m planning to have lots of odds and ends i don’t ordinarily table, including a shitload of greeting cards, probably plants and clothes and buttons (pressed flower pins and the like).

garden report
sprouted: snap peas, sweet peas, lupine, sweet william, nasturtium, various poppies, cosmos, chives, chamomile, trillium, some dahlias.
seeds sewn: scarlet runner beans, nasturtium, zinnias, dill, sunflowers.
blooming: TULIPS, blueberries, chocolate lily <3, lilacs, snapdragon, calendula, comfry, the cherry tree kyle and i planted for our 12 yr anniversary.
our parsley is going wild rn! douglas asters, artichoke and rosemary we put in the ground last year have all doubled in size. new irises are budding. thimbleberry, red raspberries, and black cap raspberry are all waking up. foxglove and mullein volunteers are moving right along. borage has taken the liberty of distributing itself all over the yard.
i watched a big ass hornet chewing up our wooden trellis to make some paper for it’s nest. i’ve seen a couple birds bathing in our pond :^) i also made friends with a beautiful goldenrod crab spider who has been kind enough to pose for some photos (i won’t share cuz i know a lot of folks are scared of spiders, and i used to be one of them until this past year)!

one last thing
i was saddened to hear of seventh’s passing this month. my heart goes out to everyone who was close to her. i didn’t know her well, but i was always taken aback by her kindness when we crossed paths. if you have some funds to spare, please donate to her memorial fund; it’s pretty far from the funding goal.
tiny victories
only just now planning my first event of 2026 (prfm), in line with my resolution to book less stuff this year
paid a lot of attention to the garden (and house plants! repotting time)
did a fair amount of drawing/zine planning/other creative stuff
got to visit my crush and be doted upon
got a new exhalaron tabletop air purifier for clean air oly, stocked up on filter replacements & did some repairs
probably other stuff i forget! :)
