Hey! Welcome! I’m Cari Luna, and this is my newsletter. Newsletter is a terrible term for what I’m doing here, though the “letter” part is apt enough. Let’s be honest and call it a blog that shows up in your inbox.
I’m a novelist and creative writing instructor, but this isn’t a craft blog. There are plenty of those out there already. I like to write here about things that move me, delight me, or irritate me. Or I’ll write about some problem or question that’s been spiraling in my head. Or I’ll talk up whatever book I’m loving at the moment. We read a Doris Lessing novel together a while back, and maybe I’ll do something like that again, or maybe not.
For the next little while, I plan to post a series of walks around Portland, Oregon, the city I’ve lived in since 2007, though not the one I would necessarily call home. I’ve got complicated feelings about this town, and I’ll be sorting through some of them on those walks. Plus photos, of course, so you can see what I see.
I have never charged for subscriptions, and don’t intend to. This is a place for me to share my thoughts and to hear yours. Nothing more or less than that. You can expect to hear from me about once a month. More often if I’ve got something to say sooner, less often if I’m feeling quiet. (The beauty of not charging. I only have to write when I actually have something to say to you.)
I hope you’ll join me.
